Actor & Director
HENRY IAN CUSICK was born in Peru, raised in Trinidad and Scotland and now lives in Hawai’i. He trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, now known as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Cusick starred in numerous British TV shows before moving to the U.S. to join the cast of the ABC hit TV series LOST. In 2006 he was nominated for an Emmy for his role as Desmond Hume and continued as a series regular for 5 seasons.
Other TV roles include series regular Stephen Finch in ABC’s SCANDAL, series regular Marcus Kane in the CW’s THE 100 (6 seasons), series regular Russ Taylor in MACGYVER (CBS), series regular Dr. Jonas Lear in THE PASSAGE (FOX) and recurring roles in 13 episodes of ABC’s BIG SKY as Avery McAllister. Also recurring roles on Fringe, The Mentalist, 24, Body of Proof, Inhumans, NCIS Hawai’i and SVU: Law and Order.
On the big screen Cusick most recently portrayed Captain McCabe in the film THE WIND AND THE RECKONING written by John Fusco and directed by David L. Cunningham currently playing in film festivals across the USA and Justin Chon’s JAMOJAYA which had its premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January 2023.
Leading movie roles include The Gospel of John, The Girl on The Train, Frank vs God, Just Let Go and Chimera Strain.
Other film credits include Hitman, Rememory, Not Another Happy Ending, Half Light, Pali Road, 9/Tenths, Richard II.
He also starred, wrote and directed the short film DRESS which won Best Short film at the Honolulu International Film Festival, Peace on Earth Film Festival and was a finalist at USA Film Festival. He also produced and starred in the short film VISIBLE, which reunited Cusick with his LOST co-star Sonya Walger.
On stage Cusick worked with the Royal National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Almeida theatre London, Liverpool Playhouse, Glasgow Citizens and Lyceum Edinburgh to name a few.
He received a special commendation in the Ian Charleson award (best performance by an actor under 30 in a classical role) for the title role in TORQUATO TASSO at the Edinburgh International Festival and as Creon in OEDIPUS at the Citizens Theatre.
Cusick voices the character of ‘Peet the Sock Man’ for the animated series, THE WINGFEATHER SAGA which had its series premiere on December 2nd, 2022, on the Angel Network. Its debut had 1.4 million views in the first 30 minutes. Season 2 is currently underway.
His most recent role on television, is John Swift in CBS’s NCIS Hawai’i. He recurred in season 2 in the show’s finale episodes, 2.21 and 2.22, and also in the third season in 3.02 and in the two part finale 3.09 and 3.10 which aired in May 2024.
Cusick directed 2 episodes for the CW’s The 100 series, episodes 4.11 The Other Side and 5.10 The Warrior’s Will.
Cusick is the SAG-AFTRA National Board member for Hawai’i.
